Join our team and make a meaningful impact by empowering individuals on their journey to mental well-being.

Job Description

The Coaching Apprenticeship Associate Program is a structured, intensive 1-year pathway designed for individuals who want to deeply learn, integrate, and apply Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) skills. This role is well-suited for anyone looking to master these frameworks for their own personal development, or to become a more effective coach, leader, or communicator.

Associates in this program undergo our formal coach training curriculum, participate in weekly consultation loops, and progress from program immersion to actively co-leading live group curriculums. Additionally, Associates play an active role in our digital community ecosystem by facilitating discussions, managing forum engagement, and helping build our library of real-world DBT applications.

Reporting

To support development across both coaching delivery and digital platform management, Associates operate within a dual-reporting matrix:

  • Digital Forum Operations & Community Engagement: Reports directly to the Head of Community for all responsibilities regarding online workspace moderation, discussion curation, and community platform dynamics.
  • Coaching Delivery & Training Fidelity: Reports directly to Alicia for all matters pertaining to coaching training execution, protocol adherence, and performance.

Requirements

1. Coaching Path & Training Progression

  • Active Platform Presence: Maintain a consistent, daily presence within the online student and alumni communities to facilitate ongoing discussions.
  • Discussion Facilitation: Moderate community spaces, seed engaging topics, and prompt dialogue to optimize peer engagement and support learning outside of live sessions

2. Online Community Participation

  • DBT Question Generation: Proactively post any questions you can think of regarding DBT skills application within the community forums. This serves as a core learning mechanism, allowing leadership to respond publicly with the correct, protocol-adherent DBT approach.
  • Coach Training Curriculum: Complete our comprehensive coach training program to master platform-specific coaching frameworks.
  • Weekly Consultation: Participate actively in mandatory weekly consultation team meetings to review group dynamics, ensure alignment, and receive ongoing feedback.
  • Program Immersion (Round 1): Participate in and experience a full, standard round of the DBT Skills Group program to build a foundational understanding of the curriculum.
  • Co-Leadership Progression (Round 2): Advance to formally co-lead a subsequent full round of the DBT Skills Group program alongside a mentor coach.

Qualifications

  • A strong, demonstrated interest in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and a desire to deeply integrate these skills into your life or professional practice (prior background in DBT is welcome but not required).
  • Exceptional written communication skills, with the ability to translate psychological principles into clear, conversational, and non-judgmental forum responses.
  • High degree of emotional intelligence, empathy, and strong boundaries appropriate for virtual educational environments.
  • Strong organizational habits necessary to successfully balance the dual tracks of live program participation and asynchronous online community management.

Working Hours

Our program includes live sessions that take place at regular times each week. Most classes run on Tuesday and Thursday evenings, Thursday midday, and Saturday mornings (Pacific Time). In addition, you must be available to respond to students between live sessions … this can be done on a flexible schedule.

Compensation

This is an unpaid position, however, if you are a licenced practitioner we can award CEU hours for your participation in this program.
