Introducing DBT-P: A New Program for Parents Navigating Emotional Challenges

We’re excited to announce the launch of DBT-P, a specialized 8-week Dialectical Behavior Therapy program designed specifically for parents and caregivers who want to bring greater emotional regulation, communication, and connection into their families.

Parenting is one of life’s most meaningful roles—and also one of the most emotionally complex. Whether you're raising a child who experiences intense emotions or managing your own emotional responses to parenting stress, DBT-P offers skills-based support to help you show up more effectively and compassionately.

What Is DBT-P?

DBT-P (Dialectical Behavior Therapy for Parents) adapts core DBT skills—originally developed by Dr. Marsha Linehan—to meet the unique challenges of parenting. This program supports caregivers in building emotional resilience, setting boundaries, and fostering healthier parent-child relationships.

Through DBT-P, you’ll learn to:

  • Regulate your own emotions during high-stress parenting moments
  • Respond rather than react to your child’s behaviors
  • Communicate more effectively and mindfully
  • Navigate validation and limit-setting with balance
  • Cope with guilt, shame, or burnout common in parenting
  • And demonstrate skillful living with your entire family

Who Is DBT-P For?

DBT-P is for any parent, guardian, or caregiver who wants to feel more in control of their emotional responses and learn evidence-based tools for parenting with clarity and connection.

You might benefit from DBT-P if:

  • Your child experiences intense emotions, frequent conflict, or has a diagnosis like ADHD, anxiety, or BPD traits.
  • You find yourself overwhelmed, reactive, or emotionally exhausted in your parenting role.
  • You want structured, skills-based strategies to bring more peace into your family dynamic.

No previous DBT experience is required—just a willingness to learn and grow.

What to Expect

The DBT-P program includes:

  • Weekly psychoeducational sessions (group or individual)
Focused skill-building on emotion regulation, interpersonal effectiveness, and distress tolerance
  • Practical tools to apply at home between sessions
  • A supportive environment where parents can reflect and learn without judgment

Each session is grounded in real-life parenting struggles and emphasizes practical application—because we know theory only goes so far when a tantrum is happening in the other room.

Why It Matters

When parents learn DBT skills, it doesn’t just help them—it transforms the entire family system. Children feel more understood. Conflicts become less explosive. Emotional recovery becomes faster. And caregivers regain a sense of confidence in their ability to respond with both strength and compassion.
