We’re Hiring a Technical Lead to Help Build the Future of Behavioral Health Learning

At TheraHive, we’re building something rare: a mental-health education company that combines the warmth and accountability of human-led group learning with thoughtful, evidence-based technology.

Over the past three years, we’ve grown TheraHive from an idea into a thriving program with meaningful product-market fit, hundreds of graduates, and consistently exceptional feedback from students and families. We did all of this using a pragmatic stack of off-the-shelf-technology (e.g. Articulate Rise, TalentLMS, Typeform, etc) so we could focus on curriculum quality and human connection first.

Now we’re entering our next chapter.

Where We’re Headed

We believe the future of behavioral health education lies in augmenting human-led programs with targeted, intelligent tools—not replacing humans with standalone apps or fully self-paced experiences.

Our group-based model is the core of TheraHive’s strength. Students learn best when they engage with real coaches, practice skills together, and feel accountable to a cohort. The opportunity ahead is to use technology, especially narrow applications of AI, to:

  • Deepen engagement between sessions
  • Reinforce skills through personalized micro-practice
  • Give coaches better visibility into student progress
  • Make our learning experience more accessible, adaptive, and supportive
  • Provide meaningful insights at exactly the right moment

This vision is not a monolithic “mental health super-app.”

It’s a flexible, human-centered platform made up of small but powerful components that enhance what already works.

A few examples of the types of initiatives on our roadmap:

  • AI-Assisted Diary Cards for conversational mood and practice check-ins
  • Practice Partner Bots that let students “teach back” DBT skills
  • Coach Insight Dashboards that highlight engagement trends and early risk signals
  • Smart reminders and nudges tied to the curriculum week
  • Lightweight in-app journaling and micro-learning experiences
  • AI-generated summaries that help students and coaches stay aligned
  • Community Moderator that supports members of our online community

This work builds directly on the strengths of our existing program and the enthusiasm of our graduates, who consistently tell us they want more ways to stay supported between sessions.

Why We’re Hiring a Technical Lead

With a solid foundation, strong traction, and clear direction, we’re ready to shift from “creative use of off-the-shelf tools” to building our own platform, deliberately and sustainably.

We’re looking for a Technical Lead who wants to:

  • Help architect the next generation of accessible, evidence-based learning tools
  • Work with a small, mission-driven team that genuinely cares about students
  • Build practical, targeted AI features that enhance (not replace) human relationships
  • Shape a platform that supports real behavioral change, not another screen-based self-help product
  • Work part-time or fractionally while still having meaningful ownership and creative influence

This role is ideal for someone who is energized by building early-stage products, excited about the intersection of psychology and AI, and eager to create tools that genuinely help people.

Who We Are
